I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Art Therapist, and Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor I. I work with adults in areas involving trauma, anxiety, grief and loss issues who have a willingness and an interest in self-exploration.
I have specialized training in Art Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), addiction treatment, Motivational Interviewing, Crisis Intervention, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and culturally based treatment. I offer a client-centered approach, utilizing a variety of clinical methods to support clients in working towards developing new skills and meeting treatment goals.
I am originally from Northeast Ohio and moved to Portland over 20 years ago. I have a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Akron where I studied painting and photography. After moving to Portland, I decided to pursue a MA in Art Therapy & Counseling from Marylhurst University. I have always been an artist and enjoyed working with others in a supportive way, so becoming an art therapist seemed the natural next step in my career. However, what I gained was much more than a career step. I witnessed how art therapy is able to provide creative self-expression for an individual and a reduction of symptoms related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief. I also discovered I truly enjoy being an art therapist and the work I do.
When I am away from the office, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy being outdoors, making art, cooking, and reading whenever I can.
